A Ruby-Throated Hummingbird can consume nectar from over 1,000 flowers in a single day, along with its diet of small insects and spiders. These birds are particularly attracted to red, tubular-shaped blossoms, but will regularly visit sugar-water feeders. During the spring courtship, the male performs a spectacular aerial display, swinging like a pendulum through the air while the female watches quietly.
